What type of refills does Mace have?

Mace make regular OC refills and water refills for the pepper gun. Mace also makes OC refills for the Pepper Baton. There is a training manual available on this page and holsters for the pepper gun.

What is Mace?

Today Mace pepper spray is a good self-defense spray. Mace started out as a civilian tear gas. In stronger formulas, police officers use the noxious gas agent to stop riots and knock down would-be perps (and some rowdy college students) and put them down to arrest them. The first industrial-strength chemical agents were designed for use by police but Mace now is a good self-defense product for anyone.

Who uses Mace?

Women especially like and use Mace but any college student, senior citizen or other individuals who needs a personal protection device to help fend off aggressive attackers. Mace is here even with the new self-defense technologies we have today. Not much can beat a good pepper spray.

How does Mace affect a person on drugs?

Cops through first hand experience have discovered someone high on drugs, drunk off his rocker, or just out of his mind, does not tend to feel pain. No pain means Mace, with only tear gas, does not work well on those individuals. The perps have to feel pain to be affected by Mace. This is why Mace isn't perfect.

How does Mace work?

Mace with only tear gas, works by irritating the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat, causing these body parts to tear, run and flare up with pain. Exposure to mace may cause a headache, dizziness and tightness in the chest. This could put an average citizen in a tight spot if attacked when the Mace doesn't work. For police, this problem isn't so important because they have back up from guns and billy clubs. However, citizens generally carry one self-protection product, and if that doesn't work, they are in more danger of being injured or killed.

What did Mace do to solve the problem that sometimes the tear gas failed to bring down the perp?

Mace Pepper Spray and Mace Pepper Foam were the answer or part of the answer to this question. The first products had the original tear gas but they also had hot pepper mixed in, called oleoresin capsicum. Instead of just causing someone pain and tearing eyes, OC causes a person to stop and drop. OC is an inflammatory, not just an irritant. Capsicum causes eyes, nose, and throat to swell and burn. Throat swelling causes coughing and problems breathing develop because the throat starts constricting. The eyes swell thus shut and the perp cannot see. Caused by the blood vessels in their eye balls swelling causing temporary blinding. Problems with sight can cause loss of balance and the lack of oxygen will slow the perps down.
