What is Mace?

Mace is a good self-defense spray. Mace is a civilian tear gas. In stronger formulas, police officers use the noxious gas agent to stop riots and knock down would-be perps (and some rowdy college students) and put them out of commission long enough to arrest them. The first industrial-strength chemical agents were designed for use by police but Mace now is a good self-defense tool for anyone.

Who uses Mace?

Women especially but any college student senior citizen or other individuals who need a handy device to help fend off aggressive attackers. Mace is still around even with all of the new self-defense technologies out there.

How does Mace affect a person on drugs?

Many cops have found out, if someone is high on drugs, drunk off his rocker, or just completely out of his mind, they do not tend to feel pain. No pain means Mace does not work well on those individuals. The perps have to feel pain to be affected by Mace. This is why Mace isn't perfect.

How does Mace work?

Mace works by irritating the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat, causing them to tear, run and flare up with pain. Exposure to mace may cause a headache, dizziness and tightness in the chest. This could put an average citizen, in a tight spot if attacked and the Mace doesn't work. For police, this problem isn't so big a deal, because the also have back up such as guns and billy clubs. However, citizens generally carry one self-defense weapon, and if that doesn't work, there could be trouble.

What did Mace do to solve the problem that sometimes the tear gas failed to bring down the perp?

Mace Pepper Spray and Mace Pepper Foam were the answer or part of the answer to this question. These products have the original tear gas but they also have hot pepper mixed in, called oleoresin capsicum. Instead of just causing someone pain and tearing eyes, OC causes a person to stop and drop. OC is an inflammatory, not just an irritant. Capsicum causes eyes, nose, and throat to burn and swell. Throat swelling causes coughs and problems breathing. The eyes swell thus shut and the perp cannot see. In fact, the blood vessels in their eye balls swell so the person may go blind temporarily. Problems with sight can cause loss of balance and the lack of oxygen will slow them down.

Do you have a video of someone using Police-Strength Spray?

This is a surveillance video from YouTube that shows a real situation in a Uniform Store that occurred Nov. 30, 2016. We do not know the strength of the spray or the brand but it does show that the store personnel gained the upper hand by using the spray.
